Grace for Moms – you and I both need it.

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes get a supermom complex – not thinking I am supermom, but getting wrapped up in wanting to be supermom.

I have a lot of ideas about motherhood and parenting, and my expectations of myself are often very lofty. (Hello, I would like to be perfect. And you??)

In my short three-year motherhood career I’ve done a lot right… But I’ve also made a lot of mistakes.

There’s not a ton of things that I know for certain, but I do know this for sure:

I. need. grace.

I need grace to take care of my kids and give them the best upbringing I possibly can.

I need to access grace to continue growing a healthy marriage now that littles take up so much of my headspace and energy.

I need grace in my friendships so that they are given the honor and attention they need to flourish.

I need to have grace for other mothers (and fathers) when I see them making parenting choices that I don’t understand or agree with.

I need grace for my littles when they’re driving me to want to curl into the fetal position and rock in the corner.

I need to give myself grace when I feel like I’m just not measuring up to my own expectations or desires.

I’m sure you can agree that motherhood exposes our need for grace on a whole. new. level.

I was so thrilled with Jessica Wolstenholm (co-author of The Pregnancy Companion) contacted me about her desire to launch a new online community aimed at providing a place of grace for moms. My-oh-my, does that scratch an itch that every single one of us has!

I was also thrilled when she asked me to be a regular contributor there.

grace for moms

Because Grace for Moms launched during a really busy season for me (can we all say Bloggers for Birth Kits?!), I haven’t given it the level of online profile or endorsement that I wanted to. But please hear me now, friends: Grace for Moms is a place to go where you can read, nod your head, exhale, and say “mmmmmmm, she gets me.”

Go there to hear from other moms, share your own story, and be encouraged in your daily life and faith.

Go there to be deliberate about seeking out grace for your own journey in motherhood.

Dear friends, there’s enough noise on the internet… but Grace for Moms is a place to tune in to something really worth while. And I’m not just saying that because I write there too. You will be so blessed by Jessica and Kristy and the other contributors. Go. Subscribe. Enjoy. (And you’re welcome.)

What area do you most need grace in your life right now?

Thanks friend. We are so honored to have you with us on the site and would love to have your friends there too… to read or write if they are interested.

P.S. The area in which I need the most grace right now is with my 4 year old firecracker of a daughter. Sassy and strong willed. I know as I seek the Lord for guidance in leading her, she will become a force to be reckoned with. Most days I don’t know where to start though. Grace, grace!!

yes, though a couple of years behind you it’s already easy to see that BOTH of our kids are firecrackers!! they are strong-willed and stubborn and opinionated… and will be amazing leaders one day… if we don’t kill them in the meantime! 😉

{Melinda} That sounds like such wonderful, welcoming place. If there is anything mamas need (anything that THIS mama needs) it is GRACE, with a capital G. I’m getting better at accepting it. Without God’s grace, we are all hopeless.

Congratulations on this opportunity. I know you will be a fabulous, sweet blessing to moms who read your words.
