Where I spend most days: Found Coffee House + Vintage Shop (find us on insta @found.au)

Hi, I'm Adriel.

Welcome. My name is Adriel. (Pronounced like the mermaid with a ‘D’.) I’m a writer and speaker based in a small town in Ngarrindgjeri Country in South Australia (originally from Oregon, USA) with my husband and three sons.

Here’s what a few lines in a social media bio can’t tell you:

I spend my days trying to be faithful with the life I’ve been given. I value sincere hospitality, generosity, a spacious faith, and a theology that is grounded in the goodness of God. I’m an author (two published books) and small business owner (cafe + vintage shop + coworking studio). I’ve written extensively about grief, doubt, middle spaces, community, parenthood, and faith that persists.

Authors aren’t one-dimensional of course, and people who have followed my work for a long time know I am a Christian feminist and I care deeply about women’s issues and how women are treated and perceived; about dignifying our children with parenting that looks more like discipleship than obedience; and about having a faithful witness in the world—learning to be whole people living the whole gospel.

I also care about creativity, Bible nerdery, politics, thrifting, all things vintage (especially mid century coffee pots), world travel, and sometimes gardening. I believe life is best enjoyed around the table, and I love attending live music or theater, watching thrillers and documentaries (plus any comedy with Catherine O’Hara, Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy, or Kitty Flanagan), and discussing big ideas with friends.

I love being a mom to boys (I have the raddest kids) and my husband is also my best friend, business partner, and all around favorite person. I lose my keys if I don’t put them in the exact right spot, always have three dozen browser tabs open, and have been known to win at most card or board games. And yes, I sometimes use GenX words like ‘rad’ or ‘dude’ in conversation when I’m relaxed. My kids roll their eyes but I’m not sorry about it

Thanks for connecting,

Adriel
