why hello there gorgeous

I have a two-month-old.

I also had a two-month-old a year-and-a-half ago.

That’s really not so long ago, so why then is it so easy to forget how amazing little baby milestones really are?

PUH-RESH-US.

Judah is now doing really “grown-up” things… like staring at his hands. And cooing. And sleeping longer stretches at night. And actually keeping his milk in his belly. And holding his head up strong.

But one of the absolute best baby milestones has got to be the first smile. (First intentional smile, that is.)

Judah’s came on his one month birthday. (Thank you, son for the convenient date so I will always remember.)

Would you take a look at this:

Why hello there gorgeous!

Seriously. Be still my beating heart.

If I wasn’t already smitten, this would be plenty enough to push me over the edge.

(I think I’ve looked at this photo a thousand times already in the last few weeks.)

This wasn’t his first actual smile, but it was the first one I successfully caught on “film”.

His first smiles came just after I had finished nursing him. He’d woken from a long nap, had a fresh, full belly, and then spent a good solid minute just grinning at me from ear-to-adorable-ear. His entire face changed – that smile lit up every tiny little bit of it. (It also lit up my heart.)

No one else was around – it was his gift to me: “Hello mama, I love you soooo.”

You want to see it again, don’t you?

Yes, I thought so.

Happy.

(And how good are the little neck rolls that are forming too? SQUISH!)

Right now it’s fair to say that we are all addicted to getting him to smile as much as possible. It’s all still so new, so magical, so fun.

Dear friends, what’s your favorite baby milestone? Go on… take the liberty to have a good old mom gush!

I was just scrolling back up in my reader to see the picture again when you reposted it! Haha perfect timing and too precious!

My favorite milestone has been laughing and crawling. Laughing for obvious reasons (melts my heart!) and crawling because even though little man is now a handful, seeing his curiosity just amazes me!

My favorite baby milestone? When they discover their little voices and babble, babble, babble on.

    Yes, PUH-RESH-US, indeed.

    Happy Sunday, friend.
