It’s been happening for almost nine months now. Slowly. Steadily.
But lately the friendship between these two has become so, so obvious.
Some days I think my eyes are swimming because of sweet moments like this that demonstrate just exactly how they feel about one another. (I don’t think they could have more fun.) It’s useless trying to hold back my happy-tears.
They are so different. Already it’s easy to tell.
One sensitive and creative. One rough and tumble.
One crowned in brown with deep, dark eyes. One crowned in yellow-white with clear blue eyes.
But they are also the same – clever, hilarious, handsome, strong, determined, sweet, and spirited.
Both mine, ours.
Both perfect. (Not flawless, but perfect – there’s a difference, you know.)
Most days I wonder how I got so lucky.
I am so dang lucky.
Dear friends, would you believe me if I told you we’ve been in America for over a week now? And that my husband and I have been sick the entire time? Yeah, it’s true. Like, the in-bed-and-miserable kind of sick. Would you also believe I had a few posts banked up to post during our first week here while we got settled?? And then… I never did? Because turning on the computer for copy and paste just felt like big work at the time? (It really did.) The good news is that we’re on the mend now. (This is really, really good news.) We’re ready to come out of our flu-induced hibernation just in time to introduce all of my boys to their very first 4th of July. (I cannot tell you how excited this makes me!) To kick-start my re-entry to the land of the living I thought I share with you this adorable, wee slice of family life. (They are adorable, right?!) Memos friends, I’ve missed you much. Muah. Tell me, what have I missed on the interwebs?? Or just tell me about how much you love seeing your own children becoming friends. Is it not the best?
p.s. The Baby K’Tan giveaway? I have not forgotten! It’s just that I got buried under a mountain of snotty tissues and couldn’t find my way out for a while. I will post the winner this coming week. Thanks for your patience. I can’t wait to give this awesome little thing to one of you guys.

1 July 2012 at 3:17 amIsn’t it amazing how different they can be? 🙂
I’m so sorry you started off your vacation sick! We all got miserably sick on a vacation we took when Hannah was a year old, but I still have some of the fondest memories from that trip. Sometimes it slows you down ‘just enough’, ya know?
Enjoy the rest of your time in the states with your precious boys. Hugs!

1 July 2012 at 3:57 pmHappy fourth of July Booker boys! We’re all set here for a cold one (our first in all our married years) but we’ve got s’mores! Hopefully one day, I can take my boys to a ‘real’ celebration too. The pleasures of being a dual country family!

2 July 2012 at 7:48 pmI had to write on this post. I just had to! Your boys are so much like mine…so undenyable brothers, so very much the same, so very different! Your babes: brown and blonde. My babe: brown and red headed. The sensitive older bro, the grab ya and yell playfully little bro. So amazing!! Enjoy the 4th of July, Booker Brothers!! Better yet, enjoy that deep bonding bind of brotherhood because that in itself is freedom….freedom to be yourself with your brother, freedom to stand by his side and protect him, freedom to be rough and tumble!

13 July 2012 at 10:18 am{Melinda} They are so sweet! I have a boy and a girl. The girl is the dark-haired, dark-eyed beauty and my boy is the blond-haired, blue-eyed impish cutie.
They used to be so sweet together when they were little. Now, at 15 and 12, there’s a lot of annoying each other and sibling rivalry. Makes me so sad. But every now and then I get a glimpse of the old days and it gives me hope that one day they’ll connect again and the sweetness will return. 🙂
Glad you are starting to feel better!

23 July 2012 at 12:11 pmI thought it was just us b/c we have a boy and a girl! Malachi is so much more rough and tumble than Abigail. That’s funny that your boys are the same.
